RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Astronomy Department, University of Florida Gainesville, Florida

Undergraduate Researcher (Advisor: Dr. Ginsburg) Fall 2024 - Present

  • Utilize python scripts to catalog 347 potential young stellar objects (YSOs) forming in the Deep South region of the molecular cloud Sagittarius B2 to compare between lower resolution data of the cloud

  • Measure the individual YSO masses, placements in the cloud, and other previously unanalyzed metrics

  • Visually inspect 500 potential sources for any false positive YSOs captured, code and adapt previous methods of data analysis using astropy, matplot, and numpy packaging

Newcastle University

Undergraduate Researcher (Advisor: Dr. Rosario)

  • Through pyspeckit, create position velocity maps of the AGN of galaxy Markarian 348, highlighting the high velocity residue from the AGN radio jets onto the Narrow Line Region [OIII] emissions

OUTREACH

Outreach Committee member, UF Astronomy Department Fall 2024 – Present

  • Manage event requests from organizations and individuals seeking demonstrations from the university’s Undergraduate Astronomy Club (UAC)

  • Serve as a liaison between the public and Astronomy department updating available outreach opportunities

 

Rosemary Hill Observatory Open House Volunteer Spring 2024 – Present

  • Organized and maintained parking for the over 200 guests attending per event night

  • Guide guests viewing of the night sky through a celestron telescope, describing mythologies of visible constellations

 

Girl Scouts Astronomy Badge Organizer November 2024 – Present

  • Communicates with local troop leaders to plan events and expectations of UAC for troops astronomy badge activities
